• US size H / 5 mm crochet hook
• MC: Red Heart Super Saver Ombre yarn (100% Acrylic; 482 yds / 440 m; 10 oz / 283 g; #4 Aran weight) or any other #4 / Aran weight yarn in color: Green Apple – 90 yds / 82 m
• CC: Red Heart Super Saver yarn (100% Acrylic; 364 yds / 333 m; 7 oz / 198 g; #4 Aran weight)  or any other #4 / Aran weight yarn in color: White – 52 yds / 48 m
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

For Dishcloth

• US size F / 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Scheepjes Catona yarn (100% Mercerized Cotton; 136 yds / 125 m; 1.75 oz / 50 g; #2 fingering weight) in colors: 
• MC: 130 (Old Lace) – 56 yds / 51 m
• CC1: 263 (Petal Peach) – 18 yds / 16.5 m
• CC2: 172 (Light Silver) – 24 yds / 22 m
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Beg: Beginning

BpSc: Back post single crochet – Insert hook from back to front around post of indicated stitch, yo and draw yarn around post of st, yo and draw through two loops on hook

C2C: Corner to corner

CC: Contrast color

Ch(s): Chain(s)

Dc: Double crochet

Ea: Each

Hk: Hook

MC: Main color

Pop: Popcorn – 5 dc in same st, remove hook from current loop, then insert hook from front to back under top 2 loops of first dc, insert hook in dropped loop and pull through stitch, ch 1 to close stitch

Notes:

• Total amount of C2C blocks on each side is 11; You can easily adjust the size by adding or subtracting more rows. However, yarn quantities will vary.
• An easy way to help remember placement is that the CC rows always contain popcorns and the MC rows are only C2C
• When working with the CC color, do not cut the MC, instead, carry the yarn up with your work
• If making the dishcloth, alternate your popcorn rows in the following color sequence using MC for non-popcorn rows: CC1, CC2, CC1 (middle of square), CC2, CC1
• Turn each row after working the first 3 dc in your ch-6

Row 1: With MC, ch 6, in 4th ch from hook work 1 dc, 1 dc in ea of remaining 2 chs

Row 2: Ch 6, work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and remaining 2 chs, sl st in ch-3 sp from previous block, ch 3, work 3 dc in ch-3 sp, change to CC

Row 3: Popcorn Row: Ch 6, work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and remaining 2 chs, *sl st in ch-3 sp from previous block, ch 3, work 1 dc, 1 pop, 1 dc in ch-3 sp; rep * to the last block; in the last block, do not work popcorn, instead work 3 dc in ch-sp; change to MC

Rows 4 – 6: Ch 6, work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook and remaining 2 chs, *sl st in ch-3 sp from previous block, ch 3, work 3 dc in ch-3 sp; rep *to end

Continue repeating rows 3-6 in the sequence of repeating rows ending with a repeat of row 3. When you complete your 11th row (a popcorn row) you’ll then begin decreasing (this is the middle of the square)

Notes: 

• Only on the very first decrease, do a ch 1 when turning; do not do this on any other C2C blocks throughout the pattern.
• When changing colors, do so after completing 3 sl sts over the beg 3 dc

1. Turn, then begin with sl st in each of the next 3 dc, sl st in ch-3 sp, change to MC, ch 3, work 3 dc in ch-3 sp, sl st in next blocks ch-3 sp; proceed to end of row by working C2C pattern (sl st in ch-3 sp from previous block, ch 3, work 3 dc in ch-3 sp), ending with sl st in last ch-3 
2. Repeat row 1 of C2C Decrease until you have one block left working in the sequence of 3 rows in MC, 1 pop row in CC; your final 2 rows willl be using MC, then fasten off.

Notes:

• Do not turn; RS will always be facing
• There will always be a total of four ch-2 sps per round and those are not included in the stitch count. 

1. With RS facing and MC, join with sl st in any corner and ch 1 (ch-1 does not count as a st), work *3 sc in the same c2c block and ea block across to corner block and ch2; rep * around ending with ch 2 and sl st in top of first sl st to join, fasten off. Each side: 33 sc
2. With CC, (use CC1 if making dishcloth) join in any corner ch-2 sp with a sl st, ch 3 (counts as sc and ch-2), work 1 more sc in the same ch-sp; *1 sc in each st around, working (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in each corner ch sp; rep * around ending with sl st to first sc, fasten off. Each side: 35 sc
3. With MC, (use CC2 if making dishcloth) join in any corner ch-sp with a sl st, ch 3 (ch-3 counts as sc and ch-2), work 1 more sc in that ch-2 sp, *1 bpsc around each sc from row 2, working (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in each corner; rep * around ending with sl st to join at top of first sl st, fasten off. Each side: 35 bpsc, 2 sc
