Baby Steps Baby Blanket

The yarn used for this project is Paintbox Yarn’s “Simply DK”. This is an amazing yarn and I love using it for baby blankets. It’s 100% acrylic and is very soft with a very reasonable price point. Each skein contains approximately 302 yards / 276 meters. It’s machine washable and can be dried in the dryer on the cool setting. There’s a large selection of colors to choose from and the yarn has been consistently good quality (I haven’t had to deal with knots, splitting, etc…). At the time of this post LoveCrafts is offering 62 shades at $4.75 per skein. If you haven’t used this yarn yet, this would be the perfect project, as it only uses 4 skeins. Easy-ish

40” x 40” / 102 cm x 102 cm

16 sts x 20 row in stockinette stitch, blocked = 4” / 10 cm – Gauge isn’t critical with this project but will affect yarn usage and final size

• Paintbox Simply DK yarn (100% acrylic; 3.5 oz / 100g; 302 yd / 276 m) in color 145 / Pale Lilac – 4 skeins or 1200 yds / 1098 m of any other #3 light DK yarn – here is my affiliate link if you’d like to order from LoveCrafts 🙂
• US 7 / 4.5  32” / 81 cm circular knitting needle
• 6 stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Bind off knitwise

Garter stitch: Knit each stitch on each side

German twist cast on

K: Knit

P: Purl

P3tog: Purl 3 stitches together

PM: Place marker

Rep: Repeat

RM: Remove marker

RS: Right side

WS: Wrong side

Yo: Yarn over

• To make the blanket larger or smaller, add or subtract in increments of 14 stitches, then add or subtract more rows in the “Body” repeat section
• Slip stitch markers as you come to them

Cast on 159 using the German twist cast on or your preferred cast on method
